BERNAT® Boa (polyester; 3.5oz/1 OOg = 129yd/118m) #46301 Peacock (B): 1 ball
NEEDLES

US 13 (9mm) or size to obtain gauge

GAUGE

In Garter st (knit every row), 12 sts = 4710cm, with 2 strands of A held together.

NOTE

Piece is knit with two strands of yarn held together throughout.

DESIGNER’S TIP

Roll B into two separate balls before beginning. To keep the yarn from getting tangled, place the ball and the original skein in separate yarn containers. This keeps the yarn flowing smoothly and eliminates tangles in your knitting bag.

INSTRUCTIONS Band 1

With 2 strands of A held together, cast on 25 sts.

Work in Garter st (knit every row) until piece measures about 8720.5cm from beginning of Band, end with a WS row. Cut A, leaving a long tail to weave in later.

With 2 strands of B held together, work in Garter st for 2 rows. Cut B, leaving a long tail to weave in later. Bands 2 and 3

Repeat Band 1 two more times.

Hood Band 4

Row 1 (RS): With 2 strands of A held together, knit to last st, place marker (pm), k1.

Row 2: P1, sm, knit to end of row. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 8720.5cm from beginning of Band 4, end with a WS row.

Cut A, leaving a long tail to weave in later.

Next Row (RS): With 2 strands of B held together, knit to last st, sm, k1. Next Row: K1, sm, knit to end of row.

Repeat last 2 rows. Cut B, leaving a long tail to weave in later.

Band 5

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 of Band 4 until piece measures about 8720.5cm from beginning of Band 5, end with a WS row. Cut A, leaving a long tail to weave in later.

Band 6

With 2 strands of B held together, work in Garter st for 2 rows. Cut B, leaving a long tail to weave in later. With 2 strands of A held together, work in Garter st until piece measures about 8720.5cm from beginning of Band, end with a WS row. Cut A, leaving a long tail to weave in later. Bands 7 and 8

Repeat Band 6 two more times.

Bind off.

FINISHING

Fold piece in half, bringing cast-on edge and bind-off edge together. With WS facing and beginning at fold, seam side edges along Bands 4 and 5 for back seam of Hood. Weave in any remaining ends. Block lightly if desired by laying piece flat and misting with water until damp. Allow to dry completely.
