Long cardigan with elegant lace  and cable   leaf motifs is perfect for welcoming in the summer sunshine!

THE GARTER STITCH YOKE AND LONG-LINE SHAPE WILL FLATTER ANY FIGURE!

WITH ITS leaf-like motifs and fresh green colour, this elegant cardigan by Marleen van der Vorst seems to encapsulate the new spring season perfectly. Its garter stitch yoke and long-line shape will flatter any figure, while the continuous garter stitch hem knitted around the whole body is a neat touch that knitters will appreciate. Marleen has knitted her cardigan in Rowan’s new Creative Linen, a linen- cotton yarn that feels crisp to knit with, but softens up considerably after washing. It’s available in 20 soft colours.

NOTES

This is knitted from the top down; the yoke is worked in garter stitch before changing to a lace and cable pattern. The final garter stitch hem is knitted on to the body stitches. First you work short rows over 5 edging sts to go around the corner, then you work every RS row by slipping 1 st of the body on to the right needle, turn and start the next row by knitting the st of the body together with the first st of the border. This is repeated until all sts are worked, and the body is effectively cast off. The sleeve border is added in the same way.
