With smaller needles and A, cast on 89 (93,101,105, 109,113,121,125,129,133). Knit 5 rows— 3 garter
ridges. Next row (WS) K1, purl to last stitch, k1. Change to larger needles. Row 7 Work Chart, keeping edge
stitches in garter stitch. Continue working Chart, until piece measures 14 (14V2, 15, 15%, 15V2)”, end with a WS row.
Shape armhole
At beginning of next 2 rows, bind off 8 (10, 10,12, 15). Dec 1 each side every RS row 4 (6, 6, 8, 6, 8, 8, 10,7, 9) times — 65 (69,77,81,85) stitches.Work even, keeping edge stitches in garter stitch, until armhole measures 7 (7V2, 8, 8V2, 9)”. Place stitches on hold.
Left Front
With smaller needles and A, cast on 45 (53, 57, 61, 65). Work as for Back to armhole.
Shape armhole and neck
Next row (RS) At beginning of RS rows only, bind off and decrease as for Back— 33 (31, 37, 35,41,39, 41, 39, 43, 41) stitches. Work even, keeping edge stitches in garter stitch, until piece measures 19 (20, 20, 21,21)”, end with a WS row.
Shape neck
At beginning of WS rows, bind off 6 (8, 9, 10, 10) once, then 4 once. Dec 1 at end of every RS row 5 (3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 4, 2, 4, 2) times — 18 (20, 23, 23, 25) stitches.Work even until armhole measures 9 (9V2, 10, IOV2, 11)”. Place stitches on hold.
Right Front
Work as for Left Front EXCEPT reverse shaping. Bind off armhole at beginning of WS row and decrease at end of RS rows. Shape neck at beginning of RS rows.
Sleeves
With smaller needles and A, cast on 49 (53, 57, 61,65). Work as for Back until piece measures VA (1%, 1, 1, 1)’1, end
with a WS row. Inc 1 each side on next row, then every 10 rows for a total of 12 (12, 13,13, 14) increase rows— 73
(77, 83, 87, 93) stitches. Work even until piece measures 17 (17, 17V2, 18, I 8V2)”, end with a WS row.
Shape cap
At beginning of next 2 rows, bind off 8 (10, 10, 12, 15) . Dec 1 each side every RS row 12 (8, 10, 6, 2) times,
then every other RS row 6 (9,9,11,14) times— 21 (23, 25, 29, 31) stitches. Bind off.
Finishing
Block pieces.
Shoulders
With RS together and smaller needle, join shoulders using 3-needle bind-off as
follows: Join 18 (20,23,23, 25) stitches of first shoulder; bind off Back neck
stitches until 18 (20,23,23, 25) stitches remain; join second shoulder.
Neck borders
PUK around neck edge. Knit 5 rows. Bind off.Front bordersPUK along Right Front and neck
border edge. Knit 5 rows. Bind off. Repeat for Left Front.SeamsSet in sleeves, placing center of sleeve cap 1″ in front of shoulder seam; sew side and sleeve seams. Block garment
PUK
With RS facing, smaller needle, and B, pick up and knit (PUK) at the following rate: 2 stitches
for every 3 rows along vertical and diagonal edges AND 1 stitch for every bound-off stitch along horizontal edges.
