SIZES

To fit approx: 76-84[86-94:97-104:107-112]cm (30-33[34-37:38-41:42-45] i n)

Actual measurement approx: 190[200:210:220]cm (76[78.75:82.5:86.5]in) Length at centre back: 53[56:58:61]cm (21 [22:23:24]in)

Sleeve length: 25cm (lOin)

Figures in square brockets refer to lorger sizes: where there is only one set of figures this applies to all sizes.

YOU WILL NEED

Sirdar Freya 55% cotton, 31% acrylic,

14% polyester (approx 110m per 50g)

7[8:9:9] x 50g balls 850 Lapland

1 pair each 5mm and 6mm needles

2 stitch holders Stitch markers

1 cable needle Row counter

Note: Yarn amounts given are based on average requirements and are approximate.

TENSION

14 sts and 19 rows to 10cm over st st using 6mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

ABBREVIATIONS

CF = si next 3 sts onto cable needle and hold at front, k3, then k3 from cable needle, yrn =yarn round needle.

FRONT

Using 6mm needles, cast on 134[140:148:154] sts loosely.

Foundation row: K7[l0:14:17], (P6, k6, pi, k6)

6 times, p6, k7[l0:14:17].

Work in patt as foils:

Row! (RS): P7[l0:14:17], (k6, p4, p2tog, yon, kl, yfwd, yrn, p2tog, p4) 6 times, k6, p7[l 0:14:17].

Row 2: K7[l0:14:17], (p6, k6, pi, k6) 6 times, p6, k7[l0:14:17].

Rows 3 to 10: Rep rows 1 to 2 four times.

Row 11: K7[10:14:17], (CF, p4, p2tog, yon, kl, yfwd, yrn, p2tog, p4) 6 times, CF, k7[10:14:17]. Row 12: As Row 2.

These 12 rows form patt.

Cont in patt until work meas 43[46:48:51]cm, (17[18:19:20]in) from lower edge, measured

through centre of work, ending after a WS row.

Shape left neck

Next row: Patt 57[59:63:65] sts, turn.

Cont on this group of sts for left side of neck.

Shape shoulder

Cast off 7[8:8:9] sts at beg of next row and the 5 foil alt rows.

Workl row.

Cast off rem 10[6:10:6] sts.

With RS facing si next 20[22:22:24] sts (centre sts) on a holder and leave.

Rejoin yarn to rem sts and work to end of row. Work as left half from *** to ***.

Workl row straight.

Shape shoulder as leftside.

BACK

Work as Front to **.

Work 6 rows straight.

Shape shoulders

Cast off 7[8:8:9] sts at beg of next 12 rows, then 10[6:10:6] sts at beg of next 2 rows.

SI rem 30[32:32:34] sts on a holder.

NECKBAND

Join left shoulder.

Using 5mm needles, RS facing, k across 20[22:22:24] sts from back holder, k up 15 sts evenly down left front neck, k across 30[32:32:34] sts from front holder, finally k up 15 sts evenly up right front neck.

80[84:84:88] sts.

Knit 2 rows.

Cast off.

SLEEVES

First join right shoulder and neckband.

Place a marker on all side edges 30[32:34:36] rows down from shoulder seams. Using a 5mm needle and RS facing, k up 44[47:53:56] sts evenly between 1 set of markers. Change to 6mm needles and cont in rib as foils: Row 1 (WS): K2, (pi, k2) to end.

Row 2: P2, (kl, p2) to end.

These 2 rows set rib.

Rib 1 more row.

Shape sleeve

Dec 1 st at each end of next row, then on every foil 4th row until 28[33:43:48] sts rem, then on every foil alt row until 26[27:29:30] sts rem. Change to 5mm needles and work straight until sleeve meas 25cm (lOin) at centre, ending after a WS row.

Using a 6mm needle cast off loosely in rib.

TO FINISH OFF

Join side and sleeve seams. •
